DONATE

It takes more than hard work and pride to turn the country blue again!

tax credit calculations

A portion of your donation can be claimed as a tax credit at tax time. Tax credits reduce the amount of income tax you owe dollar-for-dollar.

TAX CREDIT CALCULATIONS

Up to $400: tax credit = 75% of your donation.

From $400 to $750: tax credit = 50% of your donation

From $750  to $1550 (max): tax credit = 33 1/3% of your donation up to $650

The maximum contribution to a registered Canadian political party as of January 1, 2018 is $1575 annually. The maximum tax credit is $650.

EXAMPLE TAX CREDIT AMOUNTS

$20 Donation = $15 tax credit
$50 Donation = $37.50 tax credit
$100 Donation = $75 tax credit
$250 Donation = $187.50 tax credit
$500 Donation = $350 tax credit
$1000 Donation = $558.33 tax credit
$1275 Donation = $650 tax credit *max
$1575 Donation = $650 tax credit *max

SPREAD OUT YOUR CONTRIBUTION OVER TWO YEARS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR TAX CREDITS: Tax credits reduce your taxes payable. If you do not owe taxes, the credit is lost and cannot be carried forward. You can increase your tax credit amounts by donating over two years. For example, if you contribute $750 in one year, your federal tax credit will be $475 (33% of your donation). If, instead, you contribute $375 one year and $375 the next, your tax credit will be $281.25 in each of those years (75% of your donation both years), for a total contribution tax credit of $562.50.

Who are the people of Haliburton—Kawartha Lakes—Brock?

The people here are as strong as our riding is beautiful. We put our hands to hard work, our voices to causes, and our hearts and minds to the challenges we face. We take care of our neighbours. We teach our children how to learn good things, grow good crops, make good choices, and respect those who have done these things a good deal longer than they have! We are a polite people who roll up our sleeves for the good of our towns, and we take our weekends seriously. We hear loons and frogs when we sleep, but we’re a cozy drive from Toronto when we want a louder scene. We are farmers, machinists, protectors, and conservationists. We are gardeners, artists, doctors, trades people, and store owners. We pitch in and we take pride in our old buildings, stretches of natural land, and common sense. We have history, morals, and intention. And we know how to enjoy life here together.

We want to hear from you.
